Starting out with the '40s, I'm wearing a Charlotte Russe light pink dress with little black hearts on it. It's absolutely darling and I'm so glad I bought it two summers ago. The next dress is vintage, from the '80s. My mom found it for me at a garage sale a couple years ago and I ended up taking out the shoulder pads. I also pulled up the skirt a bit too, as the dress is normally halfway down my calf otherwise. I think with those adjustments it better captured the essence of the '40s.
Now for the '50s! One of my favorite decades aesthetically, in case you're wondering. At the time, I didn't have much though for clothing, but I made do. In this first outfit, the top is from Forever 21, a mint green tube top with white polka dots. The skirt is from Old Navy, something I picked up years ago and I've used it since. It's such a versatile piece! In the second outfit, I'm wearing one of my favorite jackets, which I like to call my "Pink Ladies" jacket. My aunt bought it for me last summer from Kohl's and I absolutely adore it. The top is a white crop top from Forever 21 and I honestly can't remember for the life of me where the shorts are from!
With the '60s, I tried to get my difficult hair to tease even a little, and really went for the Twiggy eye makeup look. The first dress is one of my current favorites, also from Forever 21(can you see the pattern here?). I wore it this past Christmas with a Santa hat and felt like a doll the whole day. The second dress is from Target, something I got probably about 3 years ago. I've worn it on several occasions, and I felt it gave off that nice Mod vibe so popular back in the '60s.
